There are many hundreds of awards categories in our database that cover genres, topics, formats and other book characteristics. The questionnaire responses you give us may reveal your book is right for a dozen or more of them. More broadly, we vet every award for English-language books that we learn about and only suggest ones we consider quality awards. Plus, we only suggest awards options that authors can apply for. This means we don’t suggest awards whose eligible books are all recommended by stakeholders such as librarians or parents.
Q: How can I be sure the awards options you provide are legitimate and are quality awards?
We have vetted every award in our database to ensure it’s a quality award. None of them require author purchases of services or attendance at their award celebration in order to be considered for an award, and they all have well-defined eligibility criteria, a clear submission process and identified past winners.

Q: How long after starting with you will it be before I’ll be applying for awards?
That is entirely up to you, your pace through our process’ steps and the awards you decide to apply for. If you have a finished, final file of your book ready to submit, you quickly proceed through our process, and submission periods of awards you decide to pursue are open, you could be ready to begin applying within 10 – 12 days of your Kick-Off Day.

The timeframe for learning whether you won depends on which awards you apply for. If you quickly want to know about winning, we will identify awards that minimize your wait time, but your wait will almost always be at least 4 months.
Q: Do judges consider my book’s sales rank, Amazon reviews or marketing materials in their evaluation process?
Awards are based on your book’s inherent quality. Its sales, popularity or Amazon reviews are not typically part of a judge’s award scoring. And only a few awarding programs invite your Amazon link or your marketing materials as an optional part of your submission, if they’re available.
